About the Event

Urban Walking Festival - Exploring Emily Place

As part of local neighbourhood building efforts, Aaiotanga Community Space (ACS) is hosting two urban walks taking place on May 2 and May 16 in 2021, as part of the Urban Walking Festival directed by Melissa Laing with support from Panuku Development Auckland and Auckland Transport.

This is the registration site for the May 16 walk. (Go to our other event to register for the May 2 walk).

Te Rerenga Ora Iti or Emily Place has a unique significance in the history of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and holds the memories of a number of important founding moments for our City.

Dotted with beautiful heritage buildings and a sunny reserve with stunning pohutukawa formations, Emily Place can speak to us about the importance of our natural environment as well as our commercial, religious and political history. This will be a meandering walk that not only takes us around the street but also into some of the buildings.

Duration: Less than 90 min

Access: The ability to walk up steps is necessary to experience all of the aspects of this walk but if you have mobility issues and would still like to come, let us know and we will adapt the route for you. Email the ACS Urban Walk Team on info@acommunity.nz

Cost: Free
